Windows XP
Below are the instructions for setting Windows XP to Obtain an IP Address automatically:
- Click on the Start Menu, and go to Control Panel.
- Open Network Connections. If you only see "Network and Internet Connections", open that first, and then open "Network Connections".
- Choose your network connection, right-click it, and select Properties.
- If you are using wireless to connect to your modem, choose the "Wireless Network Connection".
- If you are using an Ethernet cable to connect to your modem, choose the "Local Area Connection".
- Double-click on Internet Protocol.
- Select "Obtain an IP address automatically", and also select "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
- Press OK, and then press OK/Close.
