Below are the instructions for setting Mac OS X to Obtain an IP Address automatically:

  1. Open the Apple Menu, and go to "System Preferences".
  2. Click on "Network".
  3. In the Show drop-down box, choose your network connection.
    • If you are using wireless to connect to your modem, choose "Built-in Airport".
    • If you are using an Ethernet cable to connect to your modem, choose "Built-in Ethernet"
  4. Click on "TCP/IP".
  5. In the "Configure IPv4 Using" drop-down box, select "Using DHCP". Press "Apply Now".
